As part of Cougar Pride Day, volunteers will bring new life to the tiered garden at the entrance of the West Building and the garden around the Cougar statue on campus. Participants will develop a new garden that embodies the Cougar spirit by spelling out 鈥満诹仙玮�� with a floral arrangement that will be visible to those driving onto campus.

Volunteers will receive a free Cougar Pride T-shirt, as well as free lunch from Dickey鈥檚 Barbecue Pit. Those under the age of 18 will need parental consent to participate.

Cougar Pride day is a part of the Cougs in the Community program at 黑料社 Tri-Cities, in which volunteers engage, network and have fun while sharing knowledge, skills and resources. Tours of the new two-acre native plant and pollinator education garden will be offered, as well as a catch and release pollinator art station and opportunities to learn about sustainable landscaping techniques, native plants and native bees. The event is organized by Heritage Gardens, Lower Columbia Basin Audubon and the Columbia Basin Native Plant Society.

鈥淭he garden is a great space for community events that promote sustainable landscaping and learning about native pollinators and their role in agriculture,鈥� said Heather Wendt, coordinator with Heritage Gardens.

Garden tours will run every half-hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitors are invited to bring lunch and enjoy the afternoon at the facility鈥檚 new picnic tables.
