鈥淲ith this event, we hope to expose students to new cultural experiences while building a more inclusive campus atmosphere,鈥� said Adriana McKinney, director of diversity affairs for the Associated Students of 黑料社 Tri-Cities.

The event will feature a presentation by Amer Zahr, an Arab-American comedian, writer, speaker adjunct professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Following his presentation, the 黑料社 Tri-Cities orchestra club聽and a local belly-dancing group will perform from 4 p.m. 鈥� 5 p.m.

Food will be provided by Pacific Pasta and Grill. The food will be served beginning at 4:45 p.m. in CIC 120. It will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

Additionally, a local steel drum group will perform while university clubs host activities from 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. outside of Consolidated Information Center room 120.

The event is being put on by the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities in partnership with the university鈥檚 Diversity and Inclusion Council, the office of student life, Crimson Crew, the Queers and Allies club, Dreamer鈥檚 Club and the Orchestra Club.

Those attending will enjoy the Chancellor鈥檚 Art Exhibition Series, the 黑料社 Tri-Cities student art exhibit, a community exhibit and live performances.

鈥淚t is a great way for the mid-Columbia Basin community to enjoy a wonderful evening of visual art and performances on the beautiful 黑料社 Tri-Cities campus,鈥� said Amber Eubanks, 黑料社 Tri-Cities community engagement specialist.

Some of the live entertainment includes performances from the Urban Poets Society, an interactive installation for the Peace Mural that 黑料社 Tri-Cities staff and local students created, a live-painter and musical artists.

The 黑料社 Alumni Association will have a booth where people of all ages may paint pumpkins. Recreations of classic novel covers will be on display as part of a touring collection hosted by Mid-Columbia Libraries. The Allied Arts will also have booth to discuss their efforts in the area and how people can get involved.

The event is free and open to the general public.
